ABOUT US
Helena’s House Inc. is a licensed community residential provider in Prince George’s County, Maryland, serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in warm, well-supported homes.
OUR STORY
Helena’s House Inc. was founded in 2004 by Helena Oduro, RN, BSN. After many years working in hospitals and long-term care settings, Helena witnessed how often adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities were placed in environments that didn’t feel truly like home.
She envisioned something different: small, safe, well-staffed homes in the community where each person could receive high-quality clinical support and be known by name, preferences, and personality.
Today, Helena’s House operates multiple licensed community homes across Prince George’s County, providing 24/7 support with a focus on dignity, respect, and long-term stability.
To provide high-quality, person-centered residential services that promote dignity, safety, independence, and community inclusion for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
OUR APPROACH
We combine the structure of a licensed healthcare setting with the warmth of a family home. Every decision begins with one question: “What is best for the person we serve?”
Each person’s goals, preferences, health needs, and routines are reflected in a customized support plan developed with families, health professionals, and coordinators.
Nursing oversight, certified medication technicians, and trained direct support professionals work together to maintain safety, health, and documentation standards.
Our homes are intentionally small and located within residential neighborhoods, so that daily life includes real community experiences and relationships.
LEADERSHIP
Our leadership team brings together nursing, residential, and behavioral health experience. We partner closely with families and guardians to ensure open communication and shared decision-making.
